All these exercises can be done at home or in the gym

I would recommend completing between 3-5 sets of 10-25 repetitions

I will upload another Ski fit program Monday for you.

http://liverpoolweightlossexpert.com/blog/5-fat-loss-essentials/#commentsThu, 12 Feb 2009 10:32:56 +0000Matt Ibbshttp://liverpoolweightlossexpert.com/blog/?p=17We hear a lot of different ways of burning fat and the ‘best’ cardio to do. Yet so many of us fail to get the results we set out for and get very little change in our body.

We have a range of fundamentals we install in our training and below i want to talk you through the top 5 and how this will accelerate your fat loss and get you achieving maximum results.

This one causes a little debate with personal trainers but i am going to tell you from experience and the results we get with our client base that this is the most effective workout you can get for maximum calorie and fat burning.

Some trainers would have you sitting on a Swiss Ball, shoulder pressing and using your ‘core’ for balance! Or even better toning those arms with some bicep curls or bench dips. Time wasters! Here is a tip. Pop your Swiss balls and dump the Bicep curl for assisted/full pull ups.

You want to burn calories and get back in shape think full body exercises. Instead of squatting or lunging on their own add shoulder press to the movement or upright rows.

This way of training has been proved to burn more calories and will increase your heart rate and metabolism. This is how we train our clients and this is one of the reason we took over 900lbs of fat off them last year.

There is a saying ‘Fail to plan, plan to fail’. And this is so true.

How many of you walk in to the gym and actually know what you are going to be doing. How many sets, reps and what exercises and how long it is going to take you. You plan everything else in your life for success so why not the gym.

If you are just turning up and doing ‘what is available’ or ‘what you feel like today’ i can assure you you will get nowhere and your results will be extremely limited.

Get yourself a training diary and plan your workouts and stick to them. Include progression and how you are going to measure your progress. If you are doing a circuit, time yourself each time you do it and then try and beat it.

This is one of the biggest fundamentals of effective fat loss. Planning your foods. Next time you are in Tesco’s have a look at how many people are stood around the sandwich freezer choosing what they want. What a waste of their lunch hour. It must take them a good 10 minutes to decide and then they have to pay. Or even at work look how many people are dictated to by what is on the canteen menu!

Start to plan your foods and prepare your meals and take them in to work. If this is not an option still write your lists so if you do have to use a supermarket you know exactly what you are looking for and you can be in and out quickly.

By planning your foods you also put structure to your day and this will keep you on track.

So the difference between planning your foods and keeping a food diary.

Obviously the idea is to stick to the original plan of your food diary. In some circumstances however this is not possible. Say you have a horrible boss who books meetings in your lunch our or you get stuck somewhere.

So by keeping a food diary you can see exactly what you have eaten that day and also whether you were under or over you daily allowance.

In your food diary include the following.

Time: Amount: Where you ate: How you felt:

You will notice patterns in your eating and also how the foods made you feel.

How can you tell how you are getting on unless you keep records. Keep the pages of your food diary’s and workouts and also have a separate sheet where you can log other records.

Body Measurements - Abdominal, Hips, Waist. (retake these every 4 weeks)

Weight - Weigh yourself once a week every week and keep a chart

After monitoring your progress you can see a chart of your success and this will give your more inspiration to keep going.

As mentioned, i have been looking for many years to offer my clients the right supplementation to their nutritional plans and was not fazed by having to wait for the ‘right’ company to become available.

I want to show you a video of the CEO of Pro-grade nutrition Jim Labadie giving a special behind the scenes look at the research that goes in to the development of their products.

Many of whom had failed the fitness assessment either once or twice but were determined to get in to their chosen career.

The ambulance test being especially hard because you have to keep your heart rate below a certain rate which does not really make sense as people can work at different levels.

The reason for this blog post is that we at Matt Ibbs Personal Training Services are going to offer a new service, a service with a guarantee.

We will guarantee you that we will get you to the desired level to pass your fitness assessment and if you don’t you will get a 100% refund on the monies you have spent on training with my company.

We want to show you that we are just as committed to your goal as you are and we will get you to that level.

So if you have failed or no of anyone who wants to get in to these services give them our web address and contact details and we will GUARANTEE to get you to the level required.

WOW what a start to the year.

I don’t know if you remember but before Christmas i offered the chance for one of you to come and train with me for free for 3 months on the condition of your commitment, testimonial, before and after pictures and also a written diary.

When people make any lifestyle change, especially towards a healthier life it is always going to be hard and i fully understand that. What i don’t understand though is when you are offered the chance of a break and given everything you need to commit to your goal you don’t take.

That is the reason for this post.

In the particular email i was talking about i wanted you to make a commitment to getting in shape and turning your health and fitness around and i would do everything i can to make sure you get this. However this has to be a 2 way thing and i cannot do it on my own!

As the particular person who was offered this chance was not ready to commit to their goal i have had to take the step of ’sacking’ them from the program. I get very ‘interesting’ emails from other trainers and members of the public, especially when i have turned them down for personal training because i do not feel they are ready to commit.

I pride our company on this approach and it is not an arrogance stance. I do not want to take your money or waste yours or my time if you are not fully committed to the program. I love the fact we are the only personal training company outside London (there are 2 in London) who offer a 100% money back guarantee on our results. If we say you’ll lose 5lbs and you lose 4.5lbs i will happily give you a 100% refund because we have let you down.

For this to work though i need YOUR commitment.

For those of you that have had consultations with other personal trainers they promise you everything, they can do rehab, sports specific, weight loss, competition, cover model, core stability absolutely anything! (we specialise in weight loss and only do weight loss)

Now you ask that same trainer to commit to getting you the results they promised and offer you a 100% refund in the time frame and then you will see how good they really are! I know other trainers read this and i will ask you again, Do not make my company different, offer the same commitment and give your clients a 100% refund if they do not achieve the results you have promised them.

As you can tell by the tone of the email i am a little disappointed in the way this challenge has gone but it will not affect the way i want it to go. If you are ready to step up to the mark and you want to make a 100% commitment to changing your life please let me know. Take the reins and lets get you in to the best shape and get you back to feeling your best.

I will open the competition again. This time. 6 weeks free training for 3 times per week and you must be able to train in the hours between 9am and 12pm. Just email me a picture and a little about why you want this and i will get in touch within the next 7 days to get you back on track.

You must be a member of Total Fitness Health Clubs or be prepared to join (it is a minimum of 12 month contract at £40 per month or if you wanted to pay each month it is £70 but with no 12 month contract).

I get no commission from your sale but i rent their gym and currently fully booked with external clients and boot camps so have no free time outside the gym.

Thank you and i look forward to your reply. (info@mattibbs.com)

I warned you in the emails and I am sorry to those of you that missed out but our January boot camp has sold out!

For those that did miss out please do not worry, if you contact me on 07917866702 ill be happy to talk to you about your fitness and weight loss goals and give you information on changes and help you need to get you kick started.

Yesterday I had a very interesting conversation with an old client of mine in the gym. I won’t give his name away but he runs his own company and is seriously self motivated. Every time I talk to him I come away with new ideas and he is very motivational.

We got talking about business and the new product he had launched before Christmas and how it was going etc and from there he started talking about the ‘credit crunch’

What made this strange was that it was like I was talking to a personal trainer! I can’t remember the exact words of the conversation but he was telling me how the credit crunch was pulling individuals down and how they were letting it get on top of them.

Now from this he went on to say that exercise is what keeps him motivated and is what keeps his brain healthy. Making him able to think clearer and a lot of work and issues he sorts out are in the gym while he is training.

He made a really good point that unless you can start to take care of yourself and your own health and fitness everything around is going to seem worse because you are not in control. You feel sluggish and depressed because you are not exercising or eating the right foods and you’ll fatigue a lot quicker.

Take from this what you will but i am in 100% agreement with him. Take control of yourself and even if it is a 10 minute walk to get you going DO IT! Join your gym, fitness classes anything but take control of yourself and start putting your health, fitness and happiness first.

I have a client, Dr Tony Harvey who has been training with me for 2 years. Today was a reassessment for Dr Harvey to assess where Christmas had left him and to prescribe a new program.

As part of our fitness test one of the assessments is the 1 minute press up test.

In 1 minute Dr Harvey (47 yrs old) managed to complete 103 press ups!

Below i have attached the guidelines for a 1 minute press up test so you can judge your score and give a level of assessment.

Take the challenge, can you beat Dr Harvey?

Pro Grade is now available in the UK!

I was first introduced to pro grade products about 18 months ago by a friend in America. I had been looking at health and nutritional supplements to offer to my clients. I didn’t want to offer any product or go with ‘the most popular’.

Anyway, to cut a long story short i read the information, looked in to the history, saw videos of the process and testings of the supplements and signed up 2 weeks later.

However, the products were not available in the UK! I knew what the company was about and i wanted to be one of the first to launch it in the UK so i signed up knowing i wouldn’t be able to sell it but hoping that in the future i could.

Pro Grade now ships to the UK, 18 months after i first signed up!

Click the banner for free fat busting meal plans and tons of free info and products.

As a fitness professional, I can tell you from experience that most people just do not give their health a

second thought until it’s gone. It’s very sad, but very true.

Now I know you’ve heard this before. And I know that this message typically falls on deaf ears.

But today I want you to do some soul searching.

First off, I hope this message finds you in good health. If it does, I want you to give me just 60 seconds of reflection. Sit back in your chair and give thanks for your well-being. Give serious consideration to what your life would be like without it. Imagine the effect on your family if you lost it.

Next, I want you to think about the old saying “you are what you eat.”

Truer words were never spoken, you know. So now give me another 60 seconds and think about what you’ve eaten over the last few days. Make a little list on a piece of paper or on your computer.

So if you are what you eat, what is YOUR body made of right now?

Have I struck a nerve yet?

You and I both know there’s nothing better than filling up on nature’s finest whole foods.

If you are what you eat doesn’t it make sense to build your body with nature’s finest?

http://liverpoolweightlossexpert.com/blog/liverpool-cage-fighter-workout/#commentsWed, 14 Jan 2009 14:18:28 +0000Matt Ibbshttp://liverpoolweightlossexpert.com/blog/?p=6The last couple of weeks i have been showing you quick workouts that can be done in the gym.

I wanted to show you that the customary hour long sessions are not necessary. The most common question i get is how much do you charge and are the sessions for an hour?

We seem to have this ‘holy trinity’ pushed on to us of working out 3 times per week for and hour each (3 hours!) and if we cannot achieve this then we are not doing ourselves justice so we won’t go.

I want to give you a little insight in to how personal training works through our company.

After your initial session you are taken through a full fitness assessment of cardiovascular, muscle imbalance, lower back and abdominal strength and many more.

This then enables us to prescribe a personalised program for you. And from this personalised program you can see how long you are to workout for.

When you initially book in with a trainer if they say they are going to charge you by the hour how do they know? How can they tell from talking to you for 10 minutes before the consultation and assessments have taken place how long your workouts are for? I have asked these questions many times to personal trainers and usually receive the answer of ‘cos that is the way it is and how other trainers do it!’

We charge by the session and not the hour!

We guarantee you results by giving you a program specifically designed for you

We guarantee you results by giving you personalised nutritional plans specifically designed for you

We guarantee results by giving you 24hr support via email and mobile contact with your trainer

We are the only personal training company in Liverpool who guarantee’s YOUR RESULTS! If we promise to get you to your weight we agreed on after your initial assessment and we fail you, by any amount, even 1/2lb you will get a full refund with no questions asked.

I have said this for a long time that all personal trainers should offer this service and guarantee. They talk of what they can do for you in the consultation so make a commitment. Guarantee it and put your level of expertise and commitment to your client!

In 2008 we took over 900lbs in FAT (not weight) off our clients. We are weight loss specialists and guarantee you we will get you results.

This is what separates us from all the rest.
